Cork Walking Week

Saturday, May 19th – Sunday, May 27th – ‘Get Cork Walking’

Cork Walking Week will take place from 19th May – 27th May 2018. The week-long celebration of walking will take place throughout Cork. The events will cater for people interested in getting out and about and experiencing a multitude of walking opportunities.

Cork Sports Partnership along with the Health Promotion and Improvement Division of the HSE South has a vested interested in supporting walking groups, programmes and initiatives in Cork. Cork Walking Week will provide a fantastic focal point for people to experience walking events and activities locally. The Cork Sports Partnership has organised the schedule of walking events with local community walking groups, hill walking groups and local partners. All of these are encouraging people to take part in their walks during the week. The events are open to beginners who would like to get started with walking in a fun, safe and local environment.

Speaking about the Cork Walking Week recently, Claire Hurley of the Cork Sports Partnership said, “We are delighted to be able to offer such an exciting calendar of events during Cork Walking Week 2018, following our successful Walking campaigns of 2015 & 2017 there was a great appetite from people to take part in local events, with their local walking group”.   “These organised events offer people a unique opportunity to get out walking and exercise. However, they also give people the chance to meet different groups in an informal setting and perhaps join the group following the walking events”.

“Get Cork Walking” and take part in the many walks, workshops, events and training sessions available during Cork Walking Week 2018.
