Club Membership

Membership costs €50 per year, which runs from September to the following September.



The fee can be paid to the Committee Member on duty in Counihan’s Pub, Pembroke Street, Cork on Wednesday nights from 9.00p.m.

Non-members – Please note that after completing two walks, for insurance purposes, non-members must join in order to continue walking with the club.

The Club is affiliated to Mountaineering Ireland which confers a number of benefits.

These include:

  • Civil Liability and Limited Personal Accident cover insurance policy
  • Discounts in all good outdoor shops and a variety of other related retailers
  • A personalised membership card
  • The Irish Mountain Log magazine delivered by post to your home address

As the Cork Backpackers Club is a not for profit organisation, any monies remaining are used to cover the running costs of the Club.

Sign Up 

Non-members are welcome to join us for a trial walk by signing up online or with the Walk Organiser in Counihan’s Pub, Cork from 9.00pm on the Wednesday preceding the hillwalk. In addition in Counihan’s you will be able to get advice on what to wear on the mountains.
