CBHC Club Update No. 8 | 2018

Hi  Backpackers,

Hope you enjoyed the Bank  Holiday email whatever you were at. Have a few items to let you know about

  1. Banff Film Festival

  2. Final Call for  Ben Nevis Scotland June Weekend 2018

  3. Slieve Donard Walk May 25th

1. Banff Mountain Film Festival – from Anthony

Hi all,

I hope you had a good Easter and are still munching away on your Easter eggs.

The very popular film festival is on in the Everyman Theatre on May 11th and 12th.  Irene has reserved a limited number of tickets for the 12th May at a concession price of 13 euro.  So if you would like to join us, tickets are on sale on this Wednesday night in Counihans from 9.00pm on.  I know it is a bit early to make your mind up for what you will be doing in a months time, but this festival does sell out, so if you have a free space in your diary, why not come along and join us. For more information click here: Banff Blue Programme

All the best

2.  Cork Backpackers June Trip to Ben Nevis Scotland

All if you have not directly made contact with myself or Anne Collins on this can you do so directly ASAP. Just to you know the group of ten walkers that have already signed up with us could all be classified as B walkers.

If walkers not used to this pace wanted to join the weekend they would be welcome once they could drive/travel and walk together so they could do it at their own pace and not feel under pressure.  If such a group would like to get together and share a car let us know.

Alternatively, if people want a  training challenge for themselves they could get four B walks completed between now and June!!!

3. Slieve Donard Walk May 25th  from Aoife O’Leary

I am thinking of climbing Slieve Donard on the weekend of the 25th of may. My plan is to take the Friday off and go up early and check out Tollymore Forest Park that day. I plan to stay in the Hutt Hostel on Friday and Saturday night and climb Slieve Donard on Saturday.

If anyone is interested in coming along, the more, the merrier.

Aoife O’Leary
