Ballycotton 2016: As you may know in the past few years the Club has participated in the Ballycotton 2017 Cliff Walk and raised substantial monies for the Chernobyl Children’s Trust.
This year the Charity walk of approximately 15km takes place on Sunday 20th March.
The Walk starts in Ballycotton at 12 noon. Refreshments will be available at around the half way mark and also at the finish of the walk.
There are free buses from the village of Ballinrostig to Ballycotton at 10.30am for sponsored walkers – this takes 30 mins to get to Ballycotton.
Walkers usually drive to Ballinrostig & leave their cars there and take the bus to Ballycotton.
The Chernobyl Children’s Trust ask for a minimum donation of €25 per person as there are significant costs involved such as bus hire, food, marquee, etc
If you would like to do the walk, call in to Counihan’s on Wednesday 8th March with your donation of €25.
The Club is hoping to raise a lot of money for the Charity as it has done so in previous years.
We can arrange car pooling from the South Mall to drive to Ballinrostig if needed on the Sunday morning as usual.
The Cliff Walk is from Ballycotton village to Ballyandreen beach along a cliff track. One side there are meadows and the ocean on the other. The walk starts at the end of Ballycotton village. At the y in the road take the right up the hill, (the left takes you to the pier). The walk extends over 5 miles on a foot worn track along the cliff face. There are stunning views and the walk passes Ballytrasna beach. Walkers will have to cross many stiles on the route (so it is not suitable for bikes or buggies).
