On bank holiday weekends away the club travels to different locations throughout Ireland so that members to climb different mountain ranges. Popular destinations include; West Cork, Kerry, The Burren in Clare, Galway, Mayo, Wicklow, the Mourne Mountains in Co. Down. Typically the weekend consists of three nights away with hill walking on two days and a beach walk or sightseeing on the last day. In addition some members will bring their bicycles and very often there is a cycle on the Sunday of the bank holiday weekend.
Accommodation is in either an hotel or self catering in a modern hostel with good facilities. The type of accomodation varies from four or more in a room to twin rooms and double rooms. Occasionally single rooms may be available. The club provides food for breakfast and packed lunches and members normally eat out in local restaurants in the evening. On occasions where an hotel can offer us an inclusive package deal we will choose them. On arrival members check into their accommodation and there is normally a dinner organised in a local restaurant. If the accommodation is in an hotel they will usually provide a packed lunch. If it is a hostel the club provides lunch food and walkers can prepare their own packed lunch. The food provided would normally include: ham, chicken and turkey slices for sandwiches; cheese, yogurts, fruit, chocolate, biscuits etc.
