Land of Ice and Fire Lecture, Dublin by Paddy Dillon

Mountaineering Ireland welcomes well know climber and mountaineer Paddy Dillon back for three lectures on his experiences in Iceland. These will take place around the country in January as part of the 2016 Winter Lecture Series.
Paddy Dillon is a mountaineer and freelance outdoor writer specialising in Ireland and Britain. He is the author of many articles and guidebooks including The National Trails of Britain and Ireland, The Mountains of Ireland, The Irish Coast to Coast Walk, Exploring the North of Ireland, and Exploring the South of Ireland. He has hiked all over Ireland and Britain, Iceland as well as on the Continent. He also contributes to magazines, newspapers and periodicals and leads walks in Ireland, Britain and elsewhere, including Tuscany. He is a member of the Outdoor Writers’ Guild.
The lectures start off in Dublin where Paddy brings us to the ‘Land of Ice and Fire’ with a talk on hill walking and trekking in Iceland’s spectacular scenery. From coastal walks and hikes to the remote interior and the ice caps, there are easy trails for the day hiker to multi-day treks for the more adventurous.
