The MI Autumn Gathering 2016 takes place in Killorglin this coming weekend, hosted by Laune Mountaineering Club. With the Reeks on the doorstep, the weekend promises plenty of great walking and climbing.
Environmental Workshop – Sat Oct 15th.
As part of the MI Autumn Gathering Programme we have an Environmental Workshop on Saturday, which on this occasion will be focused on the path repair work in the Reeks.
After a short indoor session (starting at 9.00am in Killorglin) we will be out on the ground in the Hag’s Glen with Trisha Deane from South Kerry Development Partnership and we hope to meet with one or two of the farmers who have been trained in path repair skills. This is a great opportunity to gain a practical understanding of the work that has been done and why certain techniques were used, we’ll also learn about the proposals for further path repair work on priority routes in the Reeks.
While this workshop is primarily intended for Club Environmental Officers, we have a few places remaining and subject to availability would welcome other Mountaineering Ireland members with an interest, particularly representatives from clubs in the south west and people who will have the opportunity to share the information gained with other walkers and climbers.
The Environmental Workshop itself is free of charge, but we’d love to have people join us for the full weekend. Full details of the MI Autumn Gathering are available here: http://www.mountaineering.ie/events/2013/default.aspx?iid=899.
If you would like to reserve a place on the Environmental Workshop please email email@example.com (it is necessary to book in advance as numbers are limited).
